Synopsis
What does baseball have to do with religion? More than you’d think. Baseball: Beyond Belief explores the profound, sometimes unlikely relationship between America’s pastime and the world’s great faith traditions, through the eyes of players, coaches, chaplains, rabbis, imams, and priests who have sat together in the same dugout.
Directed by Emmy Award–winning filmmaker John Sheinfeld (Dick Van Dyke, PBS American Masters), the film weaves together MLB archival footage, intimate interviews with Joe Torre and Curtis Granderson, and the voices of faith leaders across traditions. The result is a film about far more than baseball, it’s about how ritual, community, hope, and grace show up in the least expected places.
Press & Reviews
A film that reveals, gently and beautifully, that the foul lines of a baseball diamond might just be the best place to ask the big questions.

Sheinfeld has made something rare: a faith film that doesn’t proselytize and a sports doc that doesn’t reduce its subjects to highlights.
